2024/2025 Science and Technology Postgraduate Scholarships

 

The Ministry of Technology and Science (MoTS) is inviting suitably qualified Zambians to apply for PhD and MSc Scholarships for the 2024/2025 academic year. These Scholarships are tenable in any of the following fields of study; Mining, Agriculture, Health, Tourism, Renewable Energy, Climate Change and Manufacturing, as indicated in the Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP).

The Scholarship will prioritise research thesis (areas of study) that have potential to produce innovative products and services likely to have an impact on improving the livelihoods of the Zambian citizenry for socio-economic development.

In line with the long-term objective of the Ministry of Technology and Science of promoting female researchers at postgraduate level, 60 percent of the scholarships will be awarded to female applicants while 40 percent of the scholarships will go to male applicants. Females are therefore encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

The Scholarships will be offered to candidates who will meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be Zambian and in possession of a Green National Registration Card (NRC).
  2. Must have a full Grade 12 School Certificate with at least credits in 5 O levels; or equivalent.
  3. Must possess letters of acceptance from a recognized accredited local public University for the academic year starting 2024/2025.
  4. Doctoral applicants must have a Master’s Degree or its equivalent in a science/technology-related field which is an acceptable prerequisite to the field being applied for.
  5. Masters applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in a science/technology-related field.

The Applicants should submit the following:

  1. An application letter responding to the advertisement.
  2. Verified and Evaluated copies of School Certificate and Degree Certificates by ZAQA, official transcripts of results, and photocopy of NRC.
  3. A photocopy of the acceptance letter from a recognized and accredited local public University, for the academic year starting 2024/2025.
  4. Letters of recommendation from employers and at least one academic reference. Note that only candidates in full-time employment will be considered. The letter of recommendation from the employers must support the candidate in undertaking further studies and study leave. However, those in informal employment must submit supporting documents showing their entrepreneurship in science and technology-related fields.
  5. Two recent passport-size photos of the candidate.
  6. A duly completed application form obtained from the Ministry of Technology and Science, Lusaka or can be downloaded from the QR Code below;
  1. Curriculum Vitae with names, addresses and contact details of three (3) traceable academic and professional referees.
  2. Proof of registration to professional/regulatory bodies where applicable.
  3. Innovative research concept, with potential to produce products and services, of not more than 300 words for Masters and not more than 1000 words for doctoral studies.
  4. Scholary work for PhD students will be an added advantage.
  5. Any other documents in support of the application.
 

Note that successful applicants shall be bonded by their employers, according to their institutional training policy, and by the Ministry of Technology and Science, for the duration equivalent to the period of the sponsorship.
