A Plough Back Investment by a Duo – Indegenuous Zambians Based in America

Two days after Government launched the Artificial Intelligence -AI Strategy, an American telecoms firm has announced a 10 million dollars AI investment in Zambia’s financial sector.
Devdraft AI, a Silicon Valley based firm, will set up it’s African operations base in Lusaka.
Devdraft AI Chief Executive Officer SALIFYANJI NAMWILA says the firm intends to work with various Small and Medium Enterprises to provide a AI powered financial payment platform.
Ms. NAMWILA, who has worked for American telecom firms like Amazon and Microsoft, says the company will also share it’s Artificial Intelligence expertise to students in universities in Zambia.
She said Zambia is a lucrative market which the Silicon Valley company wants to invest in.
And Devdraft AI co-founder BORIS MANDA said government’s good investment policies have lured the American firm to set base in Zambia.
Mr. MANDA says Zambia is ahead of time when it comes to Artificial Intelligence as the strategy is already in place.
Meanwhile, Technology and Science Minister FELIX MUTATI says government will support Devdraft AI as it sets up it’s business in the country.
Mr. MUTATI says government wants to ensure that young innovators in the country learn from experts at Devdraft AI in coming up with AI solutions for the country.
