GOVERNMENT TRANSFORMS 95 POST OFFICES INTO DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION CENTERS

Government has connected 95 Post Offices countrywide with Starlink kits to provide free internet to residents who are now able to access over 300 government services online.

Technology and Science Minister Hon. Felix Mutati says the conversion of Post Offices into Digital Transformation Centers has been successfully done countrywide.

Mr. Mutati says small and medium entrepreneurs and residents can now access free internet at Post Offices countrywide to boost their daily activities.

Speaking after he toured Nakonde Post Office in Muchinga Province, Mr. Mutati said government targets to connect a total of 106 Post Offices countrywide under the Digital Transformation Centers project.

He said citizens who want to renew their insurance, pay for road tax, get Farmer Input Support Program and Social Cash Transfer no longer need to travel to provincial centers but can easily do it at their nearest Post Office.

Mr. Mutati disclosed that all the Post Offices in Muchinga Province have been connected to Starlink.

He disclosed that for the first one year, government will provide free internet to citizens at Post Offices and later, citizens will have to pay for it.

And Zampost Area Manager for Muchinga Province Harrison Wungululu said the Starlink kit is working very well in Nakonde and other Post Offices across the province.

Mr. Wungululu said small and medium entrepreneurs and residents are free to utilise the free internet aslong as their work benefits the community.

He said the free internet government is providing will help people access government services.
