The government has said it is alive to the fact that capacity constraints for institutions that are crucial in facilitating trade must be addressed in order to a level that enables them to penetrate international markets on a sustainable basis.
Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati said this is because Zambia is ready to engage and do business with foreign markets, as stated before by President Hakainde Hichilema.
Mr. Mutati said some of the constraints that require to be addressed for these institutions are policy and institutional issues critically necessary in order to rebuild the country’s economy.
Mr. Mutati said government will need to tackle constraints holding back government and private sector engagement, hence creating the Public Private Sector Dialogue Forum.
The minister has also underscored the need for SMEs to rebuild their capacity so that they remain consistent in whatever they do through hard-work, persistence underlined by quality and consistence.
He said in the area of trade and investment, there is need for the private sector to be in the forefront as they have the responsibility to carry Zambia’s flag higher.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mutati has called for the need to have necessary information of various opportunities that may exist in foreign markets for Zambia because this data aggregation and collection is crucial towards attaining the desired results.
